Yellow Brick Road Academy Programme 

I'm a local educator and children's author focusing on children's wellbeing and skills for the future.

I run revision and well being workshops and have written this programme, which improves study habits, promotes positive well being, builds confidence and enables young people to succeed.

'It takes 21 days to create a habit and 90 days to create a lifestyle.'

As part of my Yellow Brick Road Academy programme, we have devised a 90 day focused study planner, which has received positive feedback from students who were involved in a trial.

With an ever increasing emphasis on exam results, young people have more and more pressure from school, home and sometimes their peers. They do not always have the skills to cope with this and it can end up having an adverse effect on their wellbeing and achievements.

Another battle facing young people is the amount of screen time and social media use. By being plugged in 24/7 their brains do not have the time needed for boredom in order to allow true concentration to happen when they are at school.

My Yellow Brick Road Academy programme not only helps to identify a range of study techniques allowing students to find what works for them, it also focuses on the skills and qualities they need for future life and careers they may not even be aware of or don't exist yet. This programme goes beyond the academic, vocational or technical teachings within school and ensures students are mentally fit enough for their next steps beyond school.

During my time in teaching I witnessed how stressed young people get around exam time and decided to find a solution.  I do not want my own children to struggle to cope under such pressures, I want them to have the skills and capabilities to cope and know when to seek help, I want them to be valued as individuals for each of their achievements.
